"pH Is Important": Your skin’s natural pH is slightly acidic, at about 5.5 to 6.5. Because of the ways soaps are made, they inherently have high pH-levels. This can be irritating and denaturing, causing redness, itching, excessive dryness and harm to the skin's important barrier layer. This is especially true the harder the soap — as a general rule, the harder the soap, the higher the pH. Cream cleansers are ideal for facial cleansing because they can be made to have more neutral pH levels. But even then, if you have easily angered skin, look out for allergens, irritants, or rough scrubs which can irritate sensitive skin.

The Validated Hypoallergenic Rating System is like an 'SPF' for Skin Safety

We were the first to validate hypoallergenicity. Based on published allergen lists, the VH-Rating System — an original VMV "skinnovation" — is the only hypoallergenic rating system of its kind.

The VH-Number is a bit like an SPF but for skin safety (allergen omission).

"VH-" tells you that a product is Validated (proven via patch testing and allergen omission) Hypoallergenic.

The minus sign and number show how many allergens are NOT in the formulation. The higher the VH number, the more allergens are absent, the safer the product!

If an allergen is present, the VH Rating is lower and the allergen is clearly marked in the ingredients list. If it's not one of your allergens, the product is on your safe list! If it is, just use a product with a higher VH Rating that doesn't have your allergen.
